Autumn Term 2000
In this session the students were asked to run a lesson utilising the internet in one way or another. Most groups decided to structure the management of the lesson through a series of web pages designed and constructed by themselves. The pages aimed to guide the student through both downloaded and online resources in an organised manner hopefully enhancing the learning experience.

Malika Khellaf

A travel brochure of Birmingham. In this lesson the pupils were asked to produce a brochure about Birmingham using Microsoft Publisher. They used local websites to gather information and pictures.
Malika also used the program "Fun with Text" for three other lessons. "Fun with Text" allows the teacher to prepare passages in the chosen language. The passages are then jumbled up and the pupil follows a number of guided activities to reassemble the passages. It helps to develop grammar and vocabulary skills.
Malika based her lessons on three themes, the family, leisure and general Spanish conversation. You can download the passages in zip format by clicking the links below but you will need "Fun with Text" to open them up and use them.
Spring Term 2001
In this session the students were asked to plan, create and deliver three ICT lessons that would enhance the schemes of work they were teaching. All lessons were to be taught individually.
Summer Term 2001
In this session the students were asked to create a "Mavica trail". This involves creating a trail for students to follow and prompting them at various points to take photos using a Mavica digital camera. The camera saves pictures onto a normal floppy disk which also holds some pre-designed web pages that form the basis of a lesson or activity. When the student opens up the web pages back in the classroom the photos are incorporated into the activity. This exciting and versatile resource which can be applied to many subjects was initially developed by Bren Taylor (Birmingham LEA Edit) and members of the Portability Group.
Catherine produced a Mavica trail that led the students around the school describing places of interest in french.

In this session the students were asked to plan, prepare and deliver a lesson that utilised the internet. Last year we asked the students to create their own web pages but this year we tried to use suitable resources that could be found on the internet. This left more time to think about lesson planning and classroom management and to examine how the use of ICT supported subject learning.
Yann created a number of activities through the website www.quia.com. It is a great site with more and more resources available all the time. It allows a teacher to create targetted activities such as flashcards, word searches and matching words very easily. It has been noticeable how enthusiastically the pupils take to this way of presenting what are traditonal teaching activities. Yann created the activities and then produced a simple web page to lead the pupils to the activities.
