The Aims of the lesson:

  • Examine the specific language used by the witches in Macbeth.
  • Studying Macbeth in preparation for SATs examinations.
  • To use ICT as a way of getting the pupils to explore, examine, edit and alter Shakespeare’s language.
  • Use the Macbeth site created for this lesson as a guide and resource.

Outline the methods used for preparing and running the lesson:

We designed a website that included an example of how we wanted them to edit the text as well as examples of Macbeth in performance. We designed the site using Microsoft Publisher and also used a scanner to insert some of the images. The passage that we wanted the pupils to edit was saved as a Microsoft Word document. The pupils would carry out the main task using word whilst using the website as a supportive resource.

Review of the lesson:

The lesson seemed to work extremely well. Pupils were consistently on task and focused. All pupils used the ICT resources well and effectively. Some pupils were very enthusiastic.

If I were to change anything I would give more time to examining the web site resource.
