Welcome to Swanshurst Training School Website.

Swanshurst School became a Training School in the Year 2000. Our initial specialism was examining the use ICT within Teaching and Learning and that has remained through to the present day.

Training schools are expected to offer training experiences which go beyond those expected from a well-managed institution. In particular, all leading training schools must be seen as working collaboratively with their local authority, local higher education institution, schools and others to improve education across a wide area, playing a central role in leading system-wide transformation.

At present the Training School focuses on four major areas;

• Develop a culture of training and professional development for all.

• Assist in securing school workforce supply.

• Support workforce development.

• Support modernisation through workforce remodelling.

The Training School structure comprises of a management group including a Deputy Headteacher, the Head Mentor and the Training School Manager. We have four Lead Training School Associates on TLR responsibilities and fourteen Training School Associates who were awarded bursaries to work on various developmental research based projects within and outside the school through coaching partnerships.

This year has seen a new remit introduced for Training Schools and we are now embarking on developing cluster group working in partnership with the schools in our South Area Network. This is being facilitated through research bursaries, shared training and CPD opportunities.

The Training School website is currently being redesigned to support these developments across the network schools and will be launched in the Autumn term 2010. Until then this page gives contact details and links that highlight some of the work we have been involved in.
